Our Code of Ethics...

We have established a Code of Ethics for our company, but it really will be known as “The Way We Will Do Business in our Organization.”  These are not simply platitudes, but guidelines that are designed to ensure we operate with the highest ethical standards.  Only by acting ethically in everything we do will we be successful.

CODE OF ETHICS

The following guiding principles will serve as a path for how we will conduct business:

·        We will strive to make BLC a fun place to work in all we do. A relaxed atmosphere leads to increased creativity.

·        We will make every effort to “Do Unto Others As We Would Have Them Do Unto Us” in every situation.

·        We will foster diversity in our hiring practices and with vendors so that we can better provide various points of view to implement  more focused programs for our clients.

·        We will treat everyone we come in contact with with respect and dignity.

·        We will make every effort to always speak in positive terms.

·        Every project will reflect our goal of total quality.  If we are not proud of our effort, we will not deliver it to clients.

·        We will work hard to serve our communities and the environment on an ongoing basis.

·        We will not lie to co-workers, clients, vendors, the media or anyone else we come in contact with.   There is no such thing as a “white lie” in our organization.  A lie is a lie.

·        We will only provide services to those clients/ organizations who are willing to respect our ethical practices. There will be no such thing as an “Unethical Client” at BLC.

·        We will “fire” clients who violate our ethical principles or do not show our employees the proper respect and dignity they deserve.

·        We will show compassion to everyone we come in contact with and act in ways that support our commitment to being socially ethical.

·        We will regularly recognize and reward those employees, vendors, clients and others who act in an ethical manner.

·        We will keep our promises.

·        We will teach our clients how to work most effectively with the news media, but will not condone lying or misleading in media interviews.

·        We will value the privacy of co-workers and also protect the sensitive information of clients, including trade secrets.

·        We will provide a climate where it is okay—and even encouraged—to make mistakes.   Only through trial and error can we learn and grow in our jobs and personally.

·        We will respect the news media’s deadlines for stories and honor our commitments to them.

·        Each employee has the authority and responsibility to take the necessary steps to ensure compliance with our policies.  No one needs “permission” to do the right thing.

·        We will ensure that all the vendors we work with are aware of our policies and procedures and are willing to adopt them in all their dealings with us.

·        We will pay our vendors in the agreed-upon time period. No matter what, all vendors will be paid no later than 30 days from the time we receive an invoice.

·        We will operate in an environment where each and every employee is empowered to do the right thing.   Empowerment will be valued and nurtured at our company.
