You have to give credit to KMBC in Kansas City. The local ABC affiliate has managed to land two journalists from Florida despite the huge disparity in weather conditions between the two areas.
First it was Len Jennings, who came to KMBC last year from Fort Myers, FL. And now veteran reporter Scott McDonnell will be leaving the sunny Florida sun for Kansas City, which is recovering from its second major snowstorm in as many weeks.
He will officially start March 4.
McDonnell comes to KMBC from Central Florida News 13 in Orlando where he was a daysand Bay News 9 in Tampa. Prior to that, he worked in newsrooms at WSEE-TV in Erie, PA, WSHM-TV in Springfield, MA and WFSB-TV in Hartford, CT.
According to the station McDonnell has extensive experience in covering major national stories, including the Trayvon Martin shooting. He has also conducted numerous interviews with high profile political candidates. One of hia strongest attributes is his versatility, having worked almost every role in the newsroom, including anchor, reporter, producer and multi-media journalist.
“Scott is a very strong reporter who wants the big story,” said KMBC 9 News Director, Sherrie Brown. “I know our viewers will like him personally and respect him professionally. He is laser focused on doing what reporters should do; tell stories that are compelling and relevant to our viewers.”
McDonnell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Rhode Island.
