Reporter Nima Shaffe, a Kansas City native, will be departing KCTV after a two-year stint to join WXYZ-TV in Detroit as a reporter, a reliable source has told Bottom Line Communications.
He will start at the Scripps-owned ABC affiliate March 18 in a move that is about a 20-market jump in size to the CBS affiliate in Kansas City.
Shaffe, a Park Hill High graduate, went on to get a degree in broadcast communications and journalism from Park University in December 2007.
Following graduation he worked for KMTV-TV in Omaha and KKTV-TV in Colorado Springs. He also worked at KQTV-TV in St. Joseph while in college and after graduation.
Shaffe was added to the “It’s Your Morning” team in September 2011.

NICE GUY
I briefly interacted with Nima about 10 years ago and remember him as a very a nice guy, and I wish him the best.
Detroit… I hope he takes self-defense classes.
PATRONIZING, DISCONNECTED
I wish he was on between 2 and 4 am. Can’t stand him. Makes tons of mistakes and seems fake and disconnected. A little patronizing. Let’s see if he lasts. Check him out on you tube where he does the weather in some other city. Too funny.
FAN
A great reporter! Well spoken and down to earth.
