KCWE, Kansas City’s CW, has selected Steve Serrano and Nikki Vivas as its new co-hosts for the station, according to sources. They will begin their duties in July, but not appear on the air until August.
The duo were chosen from nearly 300 candidates who auditioned at two KCWE casting calls held in the Kansas City metro area earlier this year. In addition to appearing in KCWE station promotional announcements and vignettes, Serrano and Vivas will represent KCWE at station community events and will regularly interact with KCWE fans on Facebook and Twitter
Serrano is currently heard weeknights from 7 p.m. to midnight on KMXV, Mix 93.3, and serves as that station’s Music Director and Assistant Program Director. He is a 2007 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University.
Vivas, a Blue Springs native and graduate of the University of Missouri, currently can be heard on 95.7 The Vibe, 105.1 Jack FM, and 101 The Fox.
“Both Steve and Nikki are very talented people, and each have an engaging, fun personality that will complement the terrific programs on KCWE,” says KMBC/KCWE President and General Manager Sarah Smith. “The chemistry between the two is wonderful and we believe KCWE viewers will like them as much as we already do.”
