Two years ago today Jabulani Leffall stepped into possibly the biggest media shoes ever when he replaced broadcasting legend Walt Bodine at public radio station KCUR, 89.3 FM.
In October 2010 Leffall took over from Bodine on a Monday through Thursday basis. Bodine, who had been doing “The Walt Bodine Show” on KCUR since the early 1980′s, continued to do a Friday only show, but that concluded in April.
Leffall did an anniversary show this morning commemorating his two year years on-air. For much of his “Central Standard” show he tried to act as if the guests were in his spot and he was interviewing them. Overall, you be the judge whether he pulled it off (LINK).
Another Kansas City milestone was achieved when the famous “Stormy,” KSHB meteorologist Gary Lezak’s famous weather dog turned 12 today. He proudly announced it via Facebook:
“A strong cold front is moving through with a big temperature drop. There will be a few showers & possibly a thunderstorm as the front moves across your area. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Stormy! She turns 12 years old today. She will be on 41 Action News with me tonight. I love you Stormy! Let us know what you experience as the front moves through.”

BECKA: STORMY LOVE
I remember years ago when Gary was battling his cancer, I had him in the studio to talk about it. I was looking forward to an inspirational program about a man fighting cancer in a very public way. What I got instead were a full phone bank of people calling up to ask questions about Stormy.
LEFFALL DOES WELL
I have to admit Leffall has grown on me. I don’t listen like I did with Mr Bodine but I generally enjoy when I do. I was skeptical at first and I don’t think he will end up with the same level of devotion Walt had but who could?
Overall, I think he does pretty well.
