The local news media loves to quote Black activist Alonzo Washington whenever a crime is committed involving African-Americans. And Washington has never met a camera or reporter that he doesn't like. Over the years he has become some sort of a a self-appointed spokesman for crime and race relations in KCMO, where he often portrays the police as out of control racists. Washington has his own MySpace blog where he gives his opinions of issues of the day. Many are often anti-police and inflammatory. http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendID=106341812&MyToken=1b220de4-629f-40f9-9996-31b93ba5c34eML In a recent article on his blog (below, misspellings included) Washington seems to suggest that the individual in this incident "punked out" by not firing on the police. He said thugs are willing to shoot other Blacks, but he seems to suggest that if they wanted to really show their toughness they should be willing to shoot police:
KC, Local thugs are always tough when it comes to Black on Black crime. They will smoke each other in a moment’s notice. However, very few of them are willing to fire upon the cops. Now, you have a few who will, but most won’t. This local thug punked out when the cops came calling after he shot his relative’s car & made threats. He was ready to shot his family member & shot his car. The standoff ended in peace because he knows the cops don’t shoot cars. They shoot Nig-cars!!! Thanks why he gave up. Read this!
Peace, Alonzo Washington
Standoff ends peacefully A domestic disturbance led to a standoff tonight in east Kansas City. According to police, officers were dispatched about 5:45 p.m. to the area of 42nd Street and Agnes Avenue, where a man told officers he was visiting a relative when another relative came over and shot his vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. The relative told the man he was leaving but threatened to come back and shoot him. The shooter then went inside a house and refused to come out. The man eventually came out of the house after crisis negotiators contacted him by phone. The standoff was over before 9 p.m. No injuries were reported.
