Michelle Davidson and Michael Mackie, who have worked on several projects in the past, will be the hosts of a new daytime show that will begin airing later this summer on KSHB 41 Action News.
The NBC station did not reveal when the new show will debut or its name.
Davidson is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and was an anchor/reporter at KOMU in Columbia for nearly two years. She also was at KY3 in Springfield, MO, as a weekend anchor and consumer reporter from 2001-2006.
Most recently she was executive producer and co-host of a weekly television show that aired on KCTV the past 10 months. She has also served as president of Kansas City Women in Film and Television since September 2011.
“This is a dream job. I get a chance to go to work every day with a talented team and meet interesting people that make Kansas City a great place to live,” said Davidson.
Mackie, who most recently worked as a senior writer/director at KC-based PlattForm Advertising, has worked for local television affiliates in Des Moines, Orlando and KC and has won five local Emmy awards. He received a degree in broadcasting from the University of Iowa.
He began his career as a promotion writer/producer at KCCI-TV in Des Moines for six years and then worked at KCWE for five years in the same position.
“I hope to be informative and irreverent. We bring so many things to the table. She knows a lot about fashion and is mom-centric,” he said. ”When it comes to interviewing celebrities, I’ve got it covered. I’m a pop culture sponge!”
“We’re really excited about bringing this new show to our viewers. 41 Action News is continuing to develop local programming that is relevant to our community, and we’re thrilled that we were able to recruit the talents of Michelle and Michael,” said Mike Vrabac, vice president and general manager of KSHB/KMCI-TV.
