KMBC traditionally captures the TV ratings crown covering major news events, and last night’s election results once again proved that to be the case.
It was predicted earlier that the election would likely give KMBC a boost during the current November sweeps period.
With its staffers at virtually 8-10 locations around the area and a veteran team of political reporters, the ABC affiliate notched an 8.2 rating from 7-10 p.m. with election coverage and then topped it off with an 11.1 rating for its 10 p.m. news.
WDAF-Fox 4 finished second for the three-hour period at 7.4, followed by KCTV at 7.2 with KSHB last at 5.4.
At 10 p.m. KCTV took second at 7.7 followed by KSHB at 5.9. Fox 4 was strong during the election coverage period, but was last at 5.2 at the 10 p.m. news period.
