KETZ’S T-BONES PERFORMANCE MEMORABLE

Rumors that veteran anchor/reporter Kris Ketz will be leaving KMBC to embark on a new singing career have not been confirmed, but fans say he did a pretty fair job (below) of singing “Take Me Out to the Ballpark” during the seventh inning of the Kansas City T-Bones game Saturday night.

If you close your eyes and listen to his rendition it almost reminds you of Frank Sinatra. Almost. Or possibly Soupy Sales…

Ketz also threw out the first pitch of the game.  He then sold programs, beer and hot dogs during the game.  He also helped drag the field and was a key part of the maintenance team in cleaning up CommunityAmerica Ballpark after the game.

He was warming up in the bullpen in the ninth inning, but was not called to pitch as the T-Bones beat the Grand Prairie AirHogs(?) 6-5.

We must have different definitions of the word “memorable,” for to me that was just average.

Memorable doesn’t necessarily mean it was necessarily the greatest rendition ever sung. Let’s face it, Roseanne Barr’s 1990 National Anthem was memorable..

Nice job Kris! If I make it to KC for the Emmys, then you and I have to do karaoke afterward. It’s payback for the pics from the ’10 Emmys in St. Louis :)

John – Soupy Sales? Thanks for reminding me I’m old. Watched him on WXYZ Channel 7 in Detroit in the early 60′s. Great talent!
