In a somewhat surprising move in the parochial Kansas City TV market, a few months ago KCTV announced it was bringing in Alexis Del Cid from KOIN in Portland to co-anchor its morning news.
Del Cid was brought in to replace Kelly Jones, who was later named the new on-air personality on the CBS affiliate’s “Better KC” show debuting in the fall.
Now Bottom Line Communications has learned that Del Cid’s new co-anchor will be Dave Hall, who is currently the morning anchor at KVVU in Las Vegas. The duo will make their on-air debut in August.
Hall and Del Cid will join meteorologist Gary Amble and reporter Natalie Puhr on the “It’s Your Morning” team. The KCTV morning team has changed about five times in the past seven years.
Hall is being brought in to replace Matt Stewart, whom we announced earlier was recently given his walking papers at the station after eight years.
Earlier this year Chris Suchan was brought in from St. Petersburg as chief meteorologist to replace veteran Katie Horner. Sports Director Michael Coleman had formerly been in New York.
Hall joined KVVU, the Las Vegas Fox affiliate also owned by Meredith Corporation, in March 2001 as the weekday 10 p.m. sports anchor. He was moved into the morning anchor position in 2006.
“I can look back and definitively say it was the smartest decision I ever made,” he told TV Spy last year about joining KVVU. “They’ve been the best 10 years of my life.”
Hall graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) with a degree in broadcast journalism. He spent five years at KRNV in Reno, the last two as sports director, before joining KVVU.
