KCSP-610 a.m. morning talk show host “Bulldog” Bob Fescoe has landed on Radio Ink magazine’s inaugural list of the “30 Top Local Sports Talkers in Radio for 2012″ in its December issue.
Fescoe, the host of “Fescoe in the Morning” from 6-10 a.m. with sidekick Josh Klingler, was the lone sports talker in the Kansas City market to make the elite list and came in at #28.
“It’s a great honor,” Fescoe told Bottom Line. “I am very humbled to have been selected. The folks with 610 and Entercom have been outstanding and I want to thank them.
“I also credit the passionate sports fans in KC as I believe we do have the best fans in sports right here in Kansas City,” he added.
The number one sports talker in the nation according to Radio Ink was Mike Francesca from WFAN in New York followed by Michael Kay (WEPN/New York). Mike Mulligan and Brian Hanley (WSCR/Chicago), John Dennis and Jerry Callahan (WEEI, Boston) and Gary Radnick (KNBR, San Francisco) rounded out the top five.
The entire list of winners and information about each show can be found here: (LINK).
Fescoe joined KCSP in 2009 after about two-years at KFNS “The Fan” in St. Louis. Prior to heading to St. Louis he was at WHB-810 in Kansas City as a morning co-host with Stephen St. John and gained a measure of notoriety when his press pass was yanked by the Kansas City Royals (along with talker Rhonda Moss).
A 1999 University of Kansas graduate and New Jersey native, Fescoe has been in radio for nearly 13 years.

-500
NOT ! More like -500 ! Awful ! Never listen,
Thank goodness !
NOT A FESCOE LISTENER
FWIW, I can’t stand the guy and never listen. His smug know-it-all attitude is grating, especially early in the morning.
Right behind him on the know-it-all meter is Soren Petro, who not only talks down to his callers and his co-hosts, but also to many of his regular national guests (e.g., Buster Olney, Jayson Starke, Bob Glauber). But those national guests — when they can get a word in edge-wise — are great.
HONOR WELL-DESERVED
Bob is well deserved of this honor. He brings an edge to sports talk that deserves recognition.
BUY AN AD?
How much advertising did 610 buy in Radio Ink magazine? I’m not saying he is bad, but a lot of these awards are paid for. Kind of like Lezak’s Weatherrate awards for being the most accurate.
NO WAY FESCOE IS BETTER
Like the poster above said – this is likely one of those favors for buying ad space in their mag. No way Fescoe is better that Petro, St. John, or even Kietzman. His voice annoys you after 5 minutes or so. He also often repeats what Klingler says, only to play it off like it’s his own thought. Horrible choice for this “honor”.
