11-25-2009 EBERHART: HEARNE 'DAMNED FINE HUMAN BEING' Former Kansas City Star reporter and columnist on Hearne Christopher's KC Confidential blog, John Mark Eberhart, has written an impassioned column supporting Christopher during his current DUI troubles and slamming the numerous individuals who are delighting in Christopher's current problems. "He’s a damned fine human being, and he deserves the benefit of the doubt," proclaimed Eberhart (LINK). "Ever hear of “innocent till proven guilty”?"

11-24-2009 HEARNE CHRISTOPHER CHARGED WITH DUI Hearne Christopher Jr. has revealed that he had been charged Tuesday morning with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in Prairie Village, KS. Christopher is a gossip columnist for Sun Publications and has his own blog, KC Confidential. The former Kansas City Star gossip columnist who will turn 59 soon, has pre-emptively posted many of the details of his arrest on his site (LINK). He did not mention if he took a Breathalyzer test. Christopher even includes embarrassing details such as he was taking photos of the arresting officer during the incident to use against the officer, called "Porter." He even posted a picture of Officer Porter on his site. "Traveling from the Plaza Monday night/Tuesday morning, I was pulled over by Prairie Village Police for rolling a stop sign and driving “left of center” on 77th and Booth, a few blocks from my home," he reports. "Actually, I was pulled over after I pulled into my driveway. "Funny, huh?" Although the Pitch Weekly has an unwritten policy of never mentioning Christopher in stories, we anticipate the publication will make an exception in this case. (Update: Justin Kendall of the Pitch has now done a story as well as the Star'sJoe Lambe). Christopher even provided details how he attempted to have the police officer re-take his mug shot because it "came out with exaggerated shadows." "Officer Porter - the victim of my photographing him during the experience - countered with an offer to reshoot it if I would agree not to use his photos," Christopher reports. "I did not agree. So the photo was not retaken, even though he agreed the photo of me was unusually inaccurate." "Anyway, $1,000 bond later I await judgement. Sadder, hopefully wiser, and one more step futher(sic) into an uncertain, post Star future…Life goes on."
