Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time!
Jeremy Hubbard, who was once a reporter/anchor at KMBC in Kansas City from 1998 to 2004, was in New York on Friday yukking it up on the set of ABC’s “World News Now” visiting his old friends where he was an anchor for two years before taking his current job at Fox’s KDVR in Denver.
Hubbard was in New York for a wedding and stopped by the set wearing shorts with his former co-anchor Vinita Nair. He even showed his legs and lack of a tan. It was all in good fun.
Unfortunately, while he was reminiscing about his life first reports of the horrendous movie theater shootings were occurring in Aurora, Colorado, the viewing area of his current employer. Rival station KMGH broke away from “World News Now” to cover the shootings.
It might be the biggest story of the year in the nation. And the worst timing for an anchor ever.

If he sticks around Denver long enough, I’m sure he’ll get another chance to cover a mass murder. Colorado – home of the wild, wild West.
Had it occurred to you that maybe they hadn’t heard of what was going on, yet? I sincerely doubt Hubbard is that self centered and ignorant.
All I reported was that he was being interviewed as the tragedy took place. Of course he would not have been doing the interview with a tragedy taking place back home.
You’re right about the bad timing. I wish I had been back in Colorado to cover the tragic story… but unfortunately, I’m not clairvoyant. We taped that segment around 12:30 eastern time… a full two hours before the first bullets were fired in Aurora.
I did hurry back to Denver as soon as possible, cutting the trip short and missing the wedding. We’ve been in full coverage mode ever since.
Cheers,
Jeremy Hubbard
