The first-ever list of “The 100 Most Important Sports Talk Radio Hosts in America” has been compiledby Talkers Magazine and “Bulldog” Bob Fescoe at 610 Sports is the lone Kansas Citian to be recognized. He was 69th on the list compiled by editors at the magazine and industry leaders.
“I feel honored,” Fescoe told Bottom Line. “I really feel humbled as I am the only KC guy on the list. Its a nice honor to be on the same list as the greats in my field.”
Fescoe, a University of Kansas graduate who has been in the KC market for about a decade, is the host of “Fescoe in the Morning” heard weekdays 6a-9a on Entercom’s 610 Sports Radio. In 2006 he was a center of major controversy that went national after his press pass was revoked by the Kansas City Royals (along with Rhonda Moss) for asking tough questions at a Royals news conference.
Officially dubbed the “2012 Talkers Heavy Hundred of Sports Talk,” the top 10 list includes 1, Mike Franseca at WFAN in New York; 2, Jim Rome, Premiere Networks; 3, Dan Patrick, Direct/Fox; 4, Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton, WFAN; 5, Mike Valenti and Terry Foster, WXYT, Detroit; 6, Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic, WSPN; 7, John Dennis and Gerry Callahan, WEEI Boston; 8, Tony Kornheiser, WTEM, Washington; 9, Doug Karsch and Scott Anderson, WXYT Detroit; and 10, Angelo Cataldi, WIP in Philadelphia.
The list is similar to one created by Talkers magazine that recognizes the Top 250 Talk Show Hosts in the nation. KMBZ’s Darla Jaye has made that list the past six years.
