WDAF-Fox 4 has officially announced that Michelle Bogowith will be joining the station as its newest meteorologist, replacing Karli Ritter who recently moved into the weekday morning post previously held by the late Don Harman.
Bottom Line had announced her hire in August. She will primarily be on-air weekday mornings at 9 am and noon.
Bogowith joins Chief Meteorologist Mike Thompson, Joe Lauria and Ritter. All FOX 4 meteorologists hold the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) distinction.
Bogowith comes to FOX 4 from KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri where she has been on-air the past five years. KOMU is an NBC affiliated owned by the University of Missouri and operated by the Missouri School of Journalism.
FOX 4 President and General Manager, Cheryl McDonald, said, “Michelle is a perfect addition to our FOX 4 family of meteorologists. We are extremely pleased to find someone with such caliber and experience. We are one of the few stations in the nation with an entire team of Certified Broadcast Meteorologists. “
Bogowith is a Big Sister with Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Columbia and she has served in AmeriCorps. In her spare time she enjoys a variety of sports, running, reading and traveling. See her on-air introduction (below):

NOT BAD
Saw her today, not bad… Now if they’d get RID of joe lauria, The WORST weatherman on KC TV !
DOES A GOOD JOB
Joe does a good Job. He knows the whole Olathe area in case of a Tornado.
DEFINITELY A GOOD METEOROLOGIST
LAC, I have to disagree with you. Joe may be unique but he is definitely a good meteorologist. I think he is the most accurate forecaster at the station and would trust him against any of the other broadcast mets in town.
YOUNG, BEAUTIFUL…
Oh, to be young and beautiful and in demand! Well, at least there for a while I was one out of three.
JOE’S PREDICTIONS ON TARGET
I’d put Joe Lauria’s predictions up against a couple of other meteorologists any day. One in particular spent most of their Friday night forecasts guaranteeing rain, somewhere over the weeekend…BUZZZER.. nope.
Joe discounted that idea, and he was right.
CLUELESS
LAC, you’re clueless and your writing style proves it. I’ve known and seen Joe’s work dating back to his days at Channel 13 in Mt. Vernon, Il. and he’s as solid as any meteorologist I’ve ever seen or worked with.
TALKS TOO MUCH
joe whines and talks too much to the others on the set, thompson is worse though.
So what if he knows Olathe, does he know Nort of the River ?, How about Grain Valley or Clinton ?????
4 would be better served to get another weekend guys ASAP !!!!!
FOURTH GUY?
Who is the fourth guy they have on the weekends? Isn’t he part of the team?
HER STAY IN KC WILL BE SHORT
From watching her for several years in Columbia going from a student weekend weathercaster to a full-time staff member her presentation is low-key and not “the sky is falling” type, and she has prediction skills honed from spending years in the Midwest.
Bad news is as fast as she moved from Market #137, I predict her stay in KC will be short. Some TV exec will see her in the next year or so and she will say bye to Market #31 on her way up.
